Shrawan Month Begins in Nepal

The holy month of Shrawan has began in Nepal. This month is dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva, and is considered to be a very auspicious time for religious observances. Many females wear green chura and henna(mehendi) throughout this month.

During Shrawan, many Hindus in Nepal will visit temples dedicated to Shiva, such as Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu. They will also fast on Mondays, which are considered to be particularly auspicious days in this month.

Many people will enjoy traditional Nepali foods, such as puri and bara, and will sing and dance.
